We recommend de-sexing of all pets unless breeding is desired. This eliminates significant health risks in both males and females.
Desexing is a day surgery, with most admissions between 8:00am to 8:30am and discharges between 3:00pm to 5:30pm. After a period of observation, usually a few hours, they are ready to go home. You will find your pet will be quiet for the first few days after surgery. A discharge instruction sheet will contain most of the information you need to care for your pet over the next few days.
All surgeries, including desexing, require a general anaesthetic. Post operative pain relief and antibiotics are provided along with follow up calls and revisit examinations. If you have any questions regarding your pet pre or post surgery, or would like to phone during the day to see how they are going, please phone the clinic on 08 8388 1400.
Post surgical checks are done 10 - 14 days after surgery and require an appointment with either a veterinary nurse or a veterinarian.
